The shepherd guides his sheep with patience and care, knowing that the journey is just as important as the destination

What is ShepherdBuilt? Well it’s kind of a combination of my favorite dog breed, German Shepherds, and my frame of mind around working with wood. Shepherds, yeah the ones with the sheep, are known to tend to, herd, and feed their flock of sheep. On top of that they are the primary protector of their flock. I have always viewed myself as a protector and one who will take the burden to improve the lives of others. Additionally, I like to think of myself as a shepherd by “herding” wood into custom work that will be used, cherished, and loved by my customers.
Working with wood has been engrained in me basically since birth. Whether it was building pinewood derby cars for Boyscouts or working with my dad, or for my wife on home renovation projects in what seems like an endless cycle. Throughout all those experiences I not only learned new skills on how to shape and build using wood but also how to make pieces functional and fit the needs of my customer. In 2019 I had built up quite the tool set to build almost anything, within a reasonable size, and decided to start seeing if friends needed something built to continue my skill building. Eventually, I decided to expand my services to anyone and everyone who may need it.
While I would love for woodworking to be my only job, it’s not. I work as an IT consultant for a day job and have found many ways to improve not only the product I put out, but also the ability to plan and conceptualize what the product will be through the use of technology. Using design software like SketchUp I can provide a virtual representation of your project before the first cut happens. This allows me to scope the project accurately, and you get to see what it will look like up front. Adding to that, the use of CNCs and Laser engraving enables us to take customization even further with your family name, logo, or whatever you may want on your project.
